At what age should I first bring my child to the dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends children begin seeing a dentist at one year of age or after the eruption of their first tooth.  This allows for early detection of developmental abnormalities and identification of children at higher risk for dental disease.  It is also an important time to discuss habits and review oral hygiene instructions to ensure your child grows up with a healthy smile.
